Summer Teens learn "Life Skills"

The "Free Saturday School for the Arts"

The "Free Saturday School for the Arts" operates from February to June each year. We offer free classes in: arts & crafts, art and drawing, anger management, beginning French and Spanish, ballroom dancing, African American History reading and writing skills, drums, guitar, piano, string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass), wind instruments, public speaking and Taekwondo.

Our annual Children's Symphony Concerts

The annual "Children's Concerts", featuring The Gary Civic Symphony Orchestra, are free and are co-sponsored by The Gary Community Schools. Over 2,500 children in grades 3 and 4 have, since 1985, been introduced to the instruments of the orchestra, and the variety of musical sounds and styles which a symphony provides. Several of the orchestra's musicians also teach in our programs.

The "Summer Enrichment for Learning" Program

The "Summer Enrichment for Learning Program" operates for 5 weeks in June-July, Monday-Friday. All classes are free and include the same as in the "Free Saturday School", with the addition of "Life Sklls" for teens, "make a radio", "mandatory" math, reading and writing skills, weekly field trips and daily lunch.

Summer Field Trips

Our field trip theme is "Fun and Learning". Here are a few pictures of some of our field trips which combine "fun" and "learning"..
